E. Pedestrian zone
Definition and general rules of the pedestrian zone
A pedestrian zone is a zone where access is limited to pedestrians who must move at a moderate speed, equivalent to approximately 6 km/h. This zone has clearly established start and end points.
Categories of vehicles authorised to circulate in the pedestrian zone
Certain categories of vehicles are authorised in these zones: surveillance, inspection, maintenance and refuse collection vehicles, emergency vehicles in service, public transport, vehicles whose garage is located within the zone, delivery vehicles, works vehicles, as well as cyclists if specifically authorised by signage. A pass may also be issued.
Respecting the specific rules of the pedestrian zone is essential to preserve the safety of all its users. The priority given to pedestrians, the limitation of authorised vehicles and the vigilance of drivers contribute to a safer and more pleasant environment in the city centre.
