Mandatory accessories
In the event of a breakdown or accident, you must set out your accessories at the minimum level.
- On the motorway: Place the warning triangle 100 metres behind the vehicle.
- Elsewhere: Place at 30 metres.
- In built-up areas: May be placed at less than 30 metres or on the vehicle.

The fire extinguisher
Place inside the vehicle's passenger compartment, must be visible and within the driver's reach. It has an expiry date.
The first aid kit
Contains adhesive plasters, triangular cloths, disposable gloves, surgical masks, sterile compresses, elastic bandages, round-tipped scissors, single-use gloves. Everything is packaged safely and is easily accessible.
The reflective vest
Place inside the vehicle's passenger compartment. Compulsory for the driver of a broken-down vehicle on the motorway and road for motor vehicles. Recommended to wear in built-up areas.
The certificate of conformity
Issued by the manufacturer at the time of purchase. A document whose form and colour vary by brand. Always follows the vehicle, not the owner. Also indicates the vehicle's CO2 emission rate.
The insurance certificate
Every motor vehicle driven in a public place must be insured. Must always accompany the vehicle. Trailers with a MAM exceeding 750 kg must have insurance.
The registration certificate
Every motor vehicle and trailers with a MAM exceeding 750 kg must be registered with the Vehicle Registration Directorate (DIV). The document must always be in the vehicle together with the registration plate. A copy of the document must always be kept at home.
The technical inspection
Compulsory in Belgium for all vehicles over 4 years old. Compulsory when selling your vehicle. Valid for one year.
